I mostly wanted to mess around with as many textures as possible with this one.

My #DTIYS entry for @_catko_ on Instagram ✨ I’ve been getting into mixed media lately and was SO indecisive about where to start until this. This concept felt like the perfect excuse to just dive in! It also gave me the chance to revive an old idea with the space/ocean theme I’d scrapped months ago. 🪐🌊 I was avoiding the process of starting from scratch with a new medium (traditional art feels new to me, I'm not too proud how the pencil sketch turned out but I'm glad I made a start with it! I'd love to practice some more), but I had fun experimenting and look forward to trying new things! Fun fact: the "spacey" background is a piece of a birthday balloon I held onto for some "miscellaneous future art project" I always hang onto little keepsakes for this reason but rarely actually get to the "future art project" part, so it was satisfying to see this balloon shine somewhere again. 🎈 Update: I was among the top picks of this DTIYS and got a prize icon out of it! :3c My indecisive self ended up updating my oc's design a few months after this which is a bit sad since I love this artist's atyle sm! I should just commission them next time I can.
